Above, a presentation by Jessica Clay and Robert Grand, curators of Company H’s Second Annual Summer Show. This year, the title is Strange Material and the theme is “collaboration.” For more information, and to download the application, click here!
Strange Material is open to students and alumni of Watkins College of Art, Design, and film. Submissions are due July 18th. For more information, e-mail companyh@watkins.edu
We are looking for work that is collaborative based. We encourage the idea of “collaboration” to be interpreted in various ways. The piece submitted may involve working with two or more individuals. The work may be materials based or may involve engaging with physical or interpersonal spaces. For example, the artist(s) could work and “collaborate” with a distinct site - with the location and those who come into contact with it (like a street or neighborhood). It’s possible for the work to take on the form of a workshop and to facilitate a dialogue with artists on how to collaborate or share ideas. All mediums, movements, trends, aesthetics, and styles will be accepted.
